    Bristlecone pine?

This was my first instinct as well. However both Ryan and Randy recommend potting in the smallest container you can get all the roots into even if that includes wrapping them around the inside of the pot. And qutie a few good Yamadori have very small root systems and that's also why there is...

Reciprocating saw vs Japanese hand saw

Personally believe it depends on number of trees in collection or being collected, hardness of wood and diameter of wood being cut☺️.

    Separate Akadama and Pumice

If the crapadama is degraded it should sift out of the proper size screen leaving the good substrate: pumice behind.

    Palo Verde - Unique Deciduous

As desert tree believe these send down very long root first off to get moisture in exceedingly hot dry areas. If can be cut short and side roots grown in very well draining substrate such as pumice might do well if wet cold can be avoided. It does freeze in Arizona desert but humidity/wetness is...

    LTF's Pitch Pine #1

Low Cascading branch is the tree. If keeping and developing upper tree as well will have two different styles distracting from each other. If whacking off lower branch will leave long mostly bare or redeveloping new branches on bare area if branches develop. Personally believe Cascade would be...

    Giant Arakawa... Some questions.

Air layer off thinner tree above thickest trunk section. Redevelop tree from there. Also change trunk angle to informal upright and ground layer or thread graft roots where needed for better root spread☺️.

    Is this zuisho worth buying?

Is simple matter usually to find better tree of different variety/kind for much better price. "Need" to have Japanese tree for sake of being Japanese tree owner is ridiculous. Many other great native trees for Bonsai available for much better cost.

    panda’s Pinus parviflora ‘Aoi’

    Is this zuisho worth buying?

Surprised no one notices first tree has boring predictable left/right trunk bends. Second tree has first main branch inside of bend of trunk🧐. Likely why trees left Japan.
