    Fukien Tea Work

Hi Kid. I also live in Pa. and here's what I do. In the spring, when nighttime temps stay above 45 degrees, I put my tea outside and leave it there until fall. Full sun, fast draining mix, and plenty of water. When nighttime temps go back to 45 degrees, I bring it inside, put it near a...

air layer - what went wrong?

I don't know if it's relatable or helpful, but when I layer my crab, any branch under one half inch seems to throw roots but anything over a half inch seems to callous. I start the layers after the leaves have opened fully in the spring. Bob.

Hope none of you bought Facebook stock!

I'm not a market pro so I don't know if all IPO's are sucked up by investment banking institutions at the initial offering. Seems to me that the big boys wanted what they thought would be a big bump up in price kept all to themselves.

    This spring's collection

Mark, how will you approach your chops on the Bald Cypress? Horizontal? On a diagonal? The reason I ask is when I chopped mine on the horizontal, I wasn't real happy with the way that the chop healed over. Kinda got a bit of a bulge. This year I will chop higher up and want to avoid the...

    Bald cypress question

Thanks John. Funny, I was just outside looking at the tree and was debating the same thing. There was some kind of formula about chopping for taper but I can't remember it right now. Gotta look it up again. I think it was pick the finish size of the tree. I was thinking about 22 inches. So...

    Bald cypress question

I have a Bald cypress that has been in the ground for 6 years of so. I trunk chopped it three years ago, down to about 1 foot. This year I will chop the leader about 8 inches above the first chop and get a new leader for final taper. I'd like to get it out of the ground in another 2, maybe 3...

Other hobbies you have enjoyed are still enjoying now.......

When you said you were in a band in the '60's I thought that the guitars were all from that time and just wondered how the acoustic held up. When My oldest was born in '87 I bought an Ovation (electric-acoustic) that has held up very well. When my middle girl came along in '90 I got an...
