I stuck this pot into the kiln for a ^6 firing.

Brown mason stain, man. 10 pounds of it. I want to make some more unglazed pots, and all the good brown clays and slips seem to be low or medium fired, so I need to add some stain to my cone 10 recipes.

I have no clue how this is going to look after being fired. I wanted natural cracking off the outer clay slip, but I think I let it dry too quickly. The cracks might become too severe.

Don't get me wrong, I like the bonsai trees I have, but to me, bonsai is more of something I like to do than something I like to have.

Yes. The cork oaks are in the parking lots in the circled areas. It costs money to park there, but you don't have to pay to enter the lot - just to stay in the lot. I pull up, gather a dozen or two, and scoot along. The lot isn't all oaks - they have lots of ficus and one or two other species...

Pulled this mediocre pot out of the kiln. But I'm excited about it, because I've found a cone 6 glaze that I think I'm going to love. The round slip cast pot I posted a few days ago is ready to fire, and when it comes out, I'm giving it this glaze, which I think will look great on it.

I would also recommend the parking lots at Cal State. On the north end, by the athletic fields and the arboretum, there are a lot of cork oaks.
