Bigger Kiln, Bigger pots-- New challenges and progress.

Great post! How do you flip large pots. Even 2 pieces of foam board and a 26” pot is tough on arms.

I think in pottery anyone can throw some clay together and call it a “bonsai pot,” but to do it well is a different story. I am not saying I am doing it well, but I keep trying to challenge myself to keep myself entertained. I have waited a few years to take on a bag pot. I have been talking...

    Mwar15 6 Year JBP Entry

“Red rock”. I like this one, I need some bits on the right side. I am just going to let it grow this year

    Mwar15 6 Year JBP Entry

#2- it really isn’t interesting, I didn’t repot this year. I probably will take one of the lowest buds and make that the new sacrifice and grow the tree off it. Or keep it small and throw it over a rock in a couple years

    JBP progression

This tree has slowly declined. I believe it was due to lack of vigor due to never letting it grow to gain energy, constantly candle pruning and poor soil. I made the decision to repot it in straight pumice in a pot that is a little larger than what it was in. There was minimal roots and lots of...

    Collected hawthorn

Had some dieback. They have been neglected in my grow area but hopefully I can give them more attention now. Not sure if they will last, I don’t like the lack of taper and don’t really want to invest in growing the taper.

I have been working with a red clay and this one I didn’t bisque fire, I went straight to cone 5. I am not sure if it’s the firing or the light burnishing. But I love the darkness the kiln left

I have used the blue glaze before but not on this clay. I like how dark it is. I’ll have to make some more

Western Juniper // Design Ideas help

Looks happy and healthy. You can always cut branches but you can’t add branches. I would start by cutting a branch and leaving it long and make it a Jin instead of cutting it all off at once.
