Pinus contorta maybe a shore pine?

You guys would do far better in your posting of quesstions if you took the time to develop your photographical skills. Your photo on this post is impossible to make our wheather the tree is one needles or twenty needled. The light on the tree is too dim and the background is too dark, the...

    Another collected Rocky Mountain Juniper

Or none at all, they just make noise. The problem with this is the fact that most people who object to the conversion to Shimpaku foliage have never had to deal with the real thing in a serious manner.

    Backwards Mugo 2

Mugos and Scotts are both single flush growth pines. (Usually) In performing bud removal you are hoping to induce and abundance of new buds all over the tree. These buds will not become active till the following spring.

    Backwards Mugo 2

A second flush of growth as demonstrated with JBP and JRPs can happen on young vigorous trees but it does not happen regularly enough for it to be hoped for in doing bud/shoot removal.

    Mugo Pine No.1

You can slip pot it into a colander without disturbing the roots other than loosening the roots growing around the external perimeter of the pot.

Would you repot these 2 JBPs?

Sometimes we default to doing something, anything, to get the tree to respond. In the end our attempts result in killing the tree. You have to learn to be patient, haste and desperation have killed more trees than the efforts we have taken that have frightened us into making stupid efforts.

    Mugo sale. Gonna go broke

I have trouble justifying a White Cedar in stead of a Mugo. It's kind of like the guy who went to the butcher shop and noticed something interesting in the display. Upon asking the butcher what it was he was informed it was a cow's tongue. The guy replied, horrified "I could never eat...

    Mugo Pine No.1

If you look at the highest branches (upper right) you will notice the way the growth looks. This is the way you want the rest of the tree to develop. You need to fertilize vigorously and perhaps think about planting the tree into a colander for a couple of years and allowing it to grow...

    Backwards Mugo 2

Cut off one half the root mass from the bottom and take out at least one third of the top starting with the largest unwanted branches.

    mugo pine propagation from cuttings.

Good Luck, I truly hope you succeed in your efforts. As to Harry Harrington??? I have been recommending summer repotting of Mugos in the summer long before Harry mentioned it.
