Thanks for your input guys. I have heard the square-hole criticism from my teacher as well, so it's taken to heart. I hope to get another order from Michael at Bonsai West, I'm sure a request and endorsement from a paying customer couldn't hurt . I'm keeping pretty up to date on my Facebook page, so if there's something there you like you could always buy direct! Cheers and happy new year all. I hope to see some of you at upcoming events.

First off, I just want to say thanks to Source for the curse... I have done plenty of pots with the square hole with no problem until you came along :) You just had to be right, didn't you? Joking, of course. Every one that doesn't work out is the perfect excuse to try again!

On a lighter note, here's a new idea that did work, and that I quite like...

Damn!

Man...for real...I was just PMing some folks to see about purchasing some things.
I ran into a few weeks off so I had to put it off....

But I'll say this....

You have my word I'm gonna have some trees in those pots just as soon as I can!

You seem like an honest dude.
With some dope ass pots....
That's worth supporting.

Hell....I'd keep the broke one on my shelf till it was worth fixing with gold....even if it is my grandkids! I got faith!

Just stick with Square pegs!
(like for the round holes)

Cheers Bro! I'm with you!

I'm like a proud papa today, as this large baby was just born. This pot, being my largest start-to-finish pot to date, is hopefully ushering in a new era. I've been trying and failing (learning) at bigger sizes, and finally, one has made it. Two more are being fired as we speak, so fingers crossed that they come out as planned much like this one. Thanks for looking and for your support thus far, here are pics of it at the build stage in greenware.

Being semi ignorant about pot making please enlighten my ignorance:confused:. What temp do you fire to? These damaged pots.....was it due to improper firing technique, curing or other? Thank you. Also my compliments on some nice looking pots;).

Hi, thanks for writing. I fire to cone 6, using clay who's top firing temp is cone 6, making them fully vitrified. Which damaged pots are you asking about? If you're asking about the broken pot in my thread, I think a number of factors were at play, mainly hasty drying and the possibility that the walls and floor were at different levels of dryness when attached. Also, the squared holes gave the pot a good place to crack in the kiln. Just like bonsai, I've learned that patience is my friend in making pots. I feel I'm making nicer work now, worthy of my being patient for. Now, if I could just get some glazes to work like I want them too... Thanks, keep in touch. Eli
