Does anyone have suggestions for soils to use with American larch as well as Japanese larch? Thanks.

A good free draining soil that holds moisture. The tamarack likes water. I don't know about the other model that much to give advice. I have my tamaracks in pure Napa oil dri part #8822.

American larch are usually super easy to please, I have had pre bonsai in the garden that grow in natural compost and clay soil. I agree with Frary, that any good fast draining mix will bring you results.

What stage of development are they?
I'm low on larch but I have some that were collected 2 years ago. I gave Vance my best one last summer. It was collected 3 years ago.
I have one from that batch in a mice training pot. It will be getting a ceramic pot this spring.
They take collection very well and if you put them in a colander the first year you can go in the next and really work the roots. They put on roots about as fast as elm trees.

Use a medium to coarse soil until they have developed fine roots.
