These two are pomegranate cuttings done on 4/23/16. These have double layer pink flowers.
One is ready to go to full sun this afternoon.

In spite of acquiring the new shoots, the other one is still needed closed environment with optimal humidity.

I just mentioned fungal growth in other post. I found this fungal manufacture in supermarket this morning. I intended to grow oyster mushroom for a while. This small box is very good for my intention. It costs about $10. I bought one to try. If it is good, I will try to grow it with my way in the near future.

I followed the instruction on the box. The lid was removed. I can see a lot of fungi spores ready to grow.

I thought this fungal factory was failed, but I am wrong! It started waking up on 8/31/16. It is growing fast day by day. I imagine how fast the fungal disease can grow in the human body or the plants!

I got the pomegranate pieces yesterday.
I soaked them into the vitamin B1 diluted solution for almost 24 hours (with plastic bag coverage) and put them into the plastic pot this afternoon.
The soil mix is pumice: coarse sand: mini pine bark with ratio 1:1:1

The 1st one.

I like to show you this interesting signs on the big pomegranate cutting done on 8/30/16.
9 days later, it had this sign scattered on the trunk line from the top to the lower parts. They are the roots!
1.png 2.png

Besides, it has scatter new buds, too.
4.png

It is why I said I was 100% positive for the success.
My big brother's cutting also has the same signs. We have been using the same method of cutting growth but he did not use the Rootone hormone and I did this time (because I had no time to place them in the pot right away, I soaked them in the water until I found the time. I just put some vitamin B1 and the Rootone into the water to see if it would be different with my brother's). What is a lesson from this?

The status of the big cuttings of promegranate is at this time. I think it is worth to study its behavior!
*A lot of new shoots in the largest cutting (I have 3 cutting, the largest one was next to the soil line of the mother tree, and the smallest one was far away from the soil line). I did not see any root on the trunk.
1.png 2.png 3.png

The medium one has new shoots without root on the trunk

It has less new buds than other two.

I brought this ficus out to prune it yesterday.

After

I need to change the pot soon, because this current pot may be damaged due to the ficus rootage!

While watering the plants this afternoon, I was thinking that I would vertically split this giant hollow trunk pomegranate cutting into 2 pieces in the future. It will be very interesting material to work with! :)

I thought it would be interesting to let the people know how to increase the chance to get yamadori material.
In my opinion, making a closed network is very important. When you have a good relationship with someone who also has good relationship with others, you are in the network. Few days ago, my big brother received a phone call from one of his friends who found more than twenty 40 years old Japanese boxwood landscape. The owner decided to remove every thing. My big brother's friend drove by and found a bunch of these dug out. He stopped and asked the owner. Of course, he got all of them. My brother got 8 of them. He gave me 4, but I only took 3: 2 big and 1 small. I intended not taking any more new material to my yard but could not resist taking those!
All of them has multiple trunks.

I did not take a picture of the 3rd one.
In my area is really hot and dry at this time. I placed them in the sunlight filtered area with frequent misty system. I hope they will be fine.

I unwired this California juniper few days ago. It is hard to find the small California juniper with full characteristics like this one. I will trim it down in November or December with possible transplant it to the bonsai pot at that time.

The plastic bag has touched to the top of cutting! Very high humidity inside!
1.png 2.png

I don't like it because the new leaves will have this problem!
3.png

One week passed by, those shoots are getting long.
6.png

I used 2 rods to support the plastic bag.

Finish.

We have got Santa Ana wind here for 3 days. Dry hot air combined with lot of sunlight is excellent environment for jujube tree! I guess I picked more than 2000 fruits. The fruits are really big and sweet! Every time I went to the garden, I had to get few jujubes to compensate for the hot dry weather! :)
Jujube is one of the excellent fruits which contributes to human's health. Chinese people has been using it for herbal medicine thousands years! You can see this link to know its benefit http://www.howcurediabetes.com/tag/jujube-tree/
My mom told me that she slept like a baby when she ate just few jujubes a day!

This double trunk small California juniper was collected by Mr. Harry Hirao about 13 years ago. I performed major styling on it on 11/12/12 when it was still in wood box. I transplanted it into the current clay pot on 11/27/15. It has been growing well so far.
It was on 7/17/16

Those are Yuuge! Did you mention the name of this jujube already? What's the texture like on those? Grainy or crisp?
