it's underneath two larger tree's so wouldn't go by that but it could be a willow.

If the leave beneath it are any indication, I'd guess some sort of willow.

Yes, the leaves under the tree look like willow leaves, young bark detto.

Looks like a Willow someone was trying to kill for years. Also looks like it could be fun to work with.

Yeah so there happy i'll dig it up, but anyone know what species of willow if it is a willow?

Checking Virginia tech tree ID, you have got much more willow species on your side of the pond... If it grew here I would say alba, nigra or maybe babylonica. The rest is "exotic" here.

Hmmmm guess spring shall tell it's tell, though it's a nice find as it should be ez to collect too
