    CLOSING WOUNDS

Interesting thread. Thought I’d bump it for anyone’s benefit for a new read. Going to try this on a shishigashira in the coming days.

How much sun do pines really need?

Thought I’d bump this thread as I’ve been doing quite a bit of reading on the subject an while limited, this has been helpful. After 15+ years of bonsai I’d really like to diversify into JBP & JWP but I’m uncertain if my new(er) yard gets enough direct sun.

Transferring Bonsai to windy 5th floor porch

Depending on what type of railing you’re going to have, you might consider looking into installing some windbreak cloth/netting. I used to live in a 17th floor condo in FL and installed one around my balconies. Made a huge difference for the trees and the breeze was subtle at your feet when you...

What are these little white things?

I’ve had these before too. Sprayed neem oil liberally and scraped as many as possible off manually a couple of days later.

8 for the color. I don’t grow ginkgo though so not sure if the depth is okay or not.

Can I use Bio-Gold for both indoor and outdoor plants?

You can also crush the BioGold with pliers and apply it as more of a granular fert.

Can I use Bio-Gold for both indoor and outdoor plants?

I have a pretty good sized LED light so the tropicals still grow in winter. Since they’re growing I’m fertilizing too.

Can I use Bio-Gold for both indoor and outdoor plants?

I use BioGold & Dyna-gro bonsai pro on my tropicals with excellent results. I used to just use the Dyna-gro (liquid) but adding the BioGold seemed to really help them look and grow more vibrant. A big plus is it doesn’t smell at all so you’re fine indoors.

Talk me out of a Sekka/Chirimen Hinoki Cypress

I have a couple of Sekka’s that are doing well. I keep them in an unheated garage where they get little light for several months in winter. They do fine. I leave them out in fall until we start the freeze/thaw cycle and then they come in. I shuffle them in/out depending on weather, but they do...

    Chinese Quince Pseudo. S.

First to leaf out here...and keep some stray foliage through most winters. They like to go go go.

Does anyone know what this is.

I’ve been getting whatever you’ve got for 3 years now on my quinces. I spray a horticultural oil regiment every couple of weeks and they aren’t affecting the plant. Pain in the ass to clean off though.

    CLOSING WOUNDS

I’m curious what level of pruning and clean up you do on your maples this time of year for no reason other than supply and demand (of time). Thanks regardless!
