Here is Amur #2. This one was a 15' tree under some Blue Spruce. It grew towards the open area where we park our cars resulting in an eye poke every time you got out of a vehicle. I went after it with the chainsaw resulting in that rather creative trunk chop. I left it for a year. The new growth was weak due to it being in deep shade. Deer came thru in the summer and did heavy pruning on whatever growth there was. Lots of adventitious buds this spring so out it came. Big roots straight down on this one. A lot of effort getting it out, then reducing it underneath. I'm ready for a 12oz, no wait...24oz microbrew as a recovery drink.
Here is a Amur that was in the landscape here. Not sure how long it's been around. But I plan to drop a 40' aspen where it was, so it "volunteered" to be a new bonsai. Note the beaver damage. Hmmm... I really need to talk to that beaver about where it does it's trunk chops. After pic 1st because I can never figure out how to post these thing correctly.
