image.jpg image.jpg Here is a Amur that was in the landscape here. Not sure how long it's been around. But I plan to drop a 40' aspen where it was, so it "volunteered" to be a new bonsai. Note the beaver damage. Hmmm... I really need to talk to that beaver about where it does it's trunk chops. After pic 1st because I can never figure out how to post these thing correctly.

Here is Amur #2. This one was a 15' tree under some Blue Spruce. It grew towards the open area where we park our cars resulting in an eye poke every time you got out of a vehicle. I went after it with the chainsaw resulting in that rather creative trunk chop. I left it for a year. The new growth was weak due to it being in deep shade. Deer came thru in the summer and did heavy pruning on whatever growth there was. Lots of adventitious buds this spring so out it came. Big roots straight down on this one. A lot of effort getting it out, then reducing it underneath. I'm ready for a 12oz, no wait...24oz microbrew as a recovery drink.

I really get along well with the beaver. I'm not allowed to remove trees in an area because of local regulations. The beavers are exempt. So it gets it's food and I get my view. The bonsai are protected from its culinary explorations though.

A quick update. The beaver chopped Amur is pushing out new growth nicely. All is good.image.jpg

However the bigger chunky one is struggling. I'm hiding it from my accent plants in case one of them decides to walk over and beat the crap out of this Amur because it is too weak to defend itself.image.jpg Thoughts?

I get along well with the beaver too....

Except for that four-five days it goes communist.

Sorce

I have to admit, I play for the other team, but this had me rolling with laughter! Where do you come up with this stuff Sorce?:D

I think both stumps have potential. I see a really nice multi-trunk out of the second one. Nice.
