How not to collect yamadori

I would think that would add a lot of character to the trunk. Why waste time hammering when you can collect and hammer all at once?

How in Hell did you find me?!?!
I was hiding behind a tree!o_O

I drove about 50 miles with an 8'+ japanese maple strapped to the back of my little hatchback a year or two ago - the looks from other drivers were amazing! I'll try to find a picture.

EDIT: Also, I don't think she got enough roots with that one . . .

I think you're right, might be a goner. :)
At least it seems that she put it in the radiator to keep watering it during transportation, good thinking :D

Dude, you top it BEFORE you take it home ;-). Chopping off the top 15 feet in the parking lot REALLY freaks out the nursery folks. I did that to a 25 foot nursery grown Bald cypress (took three guys, a backhoe and an hour to get it out of the ground). Lopped off the top twenty feet in their field before I threw it in the back of the truck. Laughing and pointing at me all the way around, and some interest in bonsai too.

I always tell them "I'll just put it back together when I get home." Their faces are priceless.

This particular tree didn't get chopped because it, and its little brother, were destined for my landscape.

Oh, chop it anway just for effect. ;-)

I've totally cut fruit trees clean in half in the Lowes parking lot just to fit them into my sedan
