My tree turning green

yep turning green but in a bad way. The bark on my cork bark elm is getting green alge on it. A few other trees are doing the same. What would be the best route to cleaning them back to natural color? Can't tell if you can see in the photo. But it's a dust like green alge. Thanks guys!

I'd spray some white vinegar/water mix 50:50 ratio on it and see what happens.

Hmmm, it sounds like you've had issues using this mix? While I wouldn't drench the root ball in it, a little of this solution on the soil won't harm the tree at all. I'll use this mix to spray on weeds....in my bonsai pots,

Lichens are a sign of age so I'm actually happy to find lichen on my trees...but the vinegar mix will likely work on the lichen as well.

Down here in the humid south, algae grows on bark and dead wood both in the sun and shade.

Will this mix hurt unopen buds or anything? Or can I spray and go crazy?
