This is the before pic. A few years ago. Soon after this pic was taken, the whole crown died!
I re-grew the crown from a small side branch.

I had planned on a re shape for a long time.
Last week I finally got around to it. The intention was to make it look like a ''grander'' tree...older.
The main branch was removed, (it will be jinned later) as was a heavy back branch.
But the main thing was to change the angle. About 70% of the foliage was removed.
The crown etc still needs refining but I'm not really concerned with that right now.
Pot suggestions (or any other comments) welcome.

Very impressed with your juni and quince man, these are some nice trees.

I think "grander/older" isn't going to work with that root base.
A bit too much foliage for the weight of the trunk.
Just my opinion.
Very interesting tree.

Good to not fear a complete overhaul.

Whatever it grows into should be better than it was!

We really need to see the Shari on this one , that's really what is going to make this tree .I would cut the cascading branch back to the shorter fork and build that branch from here maybe ? Long slender trunk , I might go for a shorter ,tighter feel , I really dig this trunk! Show it off

Nice shari!!!
Needs a bit of a brushing, but nonetheless, awesome!

@CW. I intend to force the roots together at the next repot. I think that might help with the base.

@jriddell. I hear what your saying. I could easily move the hanging branch to the right but I can't remove any more at the moment.

@Giga. If I had a dollar for every time...........

I wasn't saying remove the whole thing just shorten it back to the shortest fork . You can always do it later or just move it over . Nice tree though

I would never live it down if the crown died on me. What a shame, that was a better lookin tree with the old crown. It's like looking at 2 pics. That is a shari that looks like a salamander too.

Nice work!

I like the tree better now and it will only get better. The only thing throwing me off a bit is the base. I feel it need something like planting it deeper or a rock or maybe just pull the roots together like you said but I do like the direction.
