Show time. This years crop on the Pyracantha. Going on 85 years. Heavy rock, I can hardly lift it.

Too bad the white flowers have so much bling. I tried all suggestions to avoid it.

The wiry moss on the bottom is a bit distracting but other then that it's pretty nice!

It's lichen, and yes I could have removed it. Lazy.

The pyracantha. "The tree contains all the requirements needed to make a beautiful bonsai." I don't agree but no matter. There's a long story about this one. Here's just a bit of it. It was thrown off it's bench to the cement and crushed in a major quake about 10 years ago. It's still being rebuilt. And as we know, 2D images never tell all the story. (A good article by Tony Tickle in the latest Bonsai Focus about this) This was a hasty shot with no prep involved. And there are problems that would take a long time to correct. The long straight roots on both sides for one. Similar color of the bark and stone. On and on...I removed at least 50% of the leaves as usual. Soon it will be living under cover along with all the other bonsai instead of this alpine rainforest in fungus alley with 100-200" of rain per year where everything rots and gets covered with lichen. Here's another pyracantha with less problems. It's story is on the dread FB for those who dare.
