Vance mentioned something very interesting to me....

Mine's grown very well in water this year.
When I flush the tub, I let the pot drain out an I flush it several times before it goes back in.
But, it's done well.
I am gonna take it out for fall though.

Trunk thickening nicely as well? I kinda wanna understand the reason why it doesn't do the same thing as say hydroponics would to the BC. Is the tub of water only a few inches deep so that the top of the pot isn't submerged?

Yep, I haven't put a caliper on it,but yeah, it's noticeable.
And the water is usually half way up the pot.
Also, I didn't have this tree all year.
It was slowly drying and weak looking when I got it in mid June...it was Father's Day if I recall...
For whatever that's worth

Lol...
I had a dream about growing a bonsai in a clear glass pot, with clear glass marbles as a substrate...

That a great way to learn roots!

I was rather amazed at how quickly my BC dried the pot.

I can understand someones necessity to keep it in a bit of water.

But not everyone's.
