Nova bonsai garden

Interesting operation and that blade looks extremely dangerous. Is any of the wood going for gun stocks or where does most of it go?

We’ll be building a new home on the property. Wood will be used for doors, stair treads, cabinets, etc - whatever we can think of!

Old Rag was a favorite of former Shenandoah Forest National Park resident artist Kevin Adams. He painted it many times.

One of the big challenges in Houston is that the cold comes among warm temperatures. So the trees aren‘t truly dormant and, as a result, aren’t as cold hardy as they might have otherwise been. Most of the species I’ve been growing have been exposed to some pretty cold temperatures already. I still take precautions (it’s going to get down close to 10 in my neck of the woods), but I’m not nearly as nervous here as I was in Houston when it was 70 degrees one day and 20 the next.

This is the main issue with Texas, we are going to have 3 days of 10'2, a day in the 30's followed by a high 60's to 70 day. I have all my trees under a frost blanket, I wasn't able to get 3... just two so there is a big opening that I placed against the wind so hopefully they will be fine. Last year I lost a few trees, but they were in the backyard with a frost blanket over. This time they are in an apartment balcony so hopefully the over head protection from sunlight will help them not push buds too early.

By the way, love your barn/greenhouse/benches set up, hopefully I can do something similar but at a much smaller scale in the house we are building now.

Just curious - with the disclaimer that I‘m a VERY amateur carpenter, I’m happy to post plans, a cut list for the benches if you all are interested. They went through several iterations before I was happy with them.

I appreciate the offer, I am a little above average carpenter so I won't need them, but I'm sure someone here may benefit from them.

My wife thinks our retirement will include a lot of cruise and travel. My bonsai trees say otherwise. I see trouble water ahead.
