Hmmm
I think the best gift would be time spent with a Bonsai Teacher of their choice for a full day.

I hear you there Irene. Maybe a week:D
I'll settle for a couple of books this year - Stone Lanterns Pines, and The Guide to Junipers.

"A Christmas Story" house restored!

My family and I just visited the house in Cleveland, Ohio where some of the movie "A Christmas Story" was filmed. The house was bought by an investor from e-bay in 2004 SIGHT-UNSEEN and restored to great condition. Pretty cool to go there and see the real house and neighborhood and then watch the movie again. Might be a fun trip for any movie buffs if you're ever in the Cleveland area. The day we were there a crew from the Today Show was filming...maybe we'll be on the show as goofy tourists in the background.

Oh...I only want a greenhouse for Christmas...how many years of Christmas would that cover... "Honest Honey, no more presents for me for several decades ;)"

Well, there are always the favorites:

1) Magazine subscription
2) Cool bonsai books
3) Bonsai videos
4) Bonsai trees :)
5) Nice pot(s)
6) Nice stand(s)
7) Tools (especially fancy Japanese stainless ones)
8) Wire, cut paste, etc
9) Nice japanese-themed art (stone lantern, wall hanging, tea pot/set, etc)
10) Bonsai classes, trips, and trips to take classes :)

But within any of these categories can be found unique products that make a "special" gift...

For example:

A nice gardening saw: http://www.japanwoodworker.com/product.asp?s=JapanWoodworker&pf_id=19.811.0&dept_id=13304

An awesome grafting blade:

A set of scorps:

Some rare Japanese Maple cultivars:

Bamboo water fountain for your garden:

I could go on...
