Ginkgo is always interesting. As a bonsai it's hard as heck to develop and I know mine is going to take forever to be anything that looks remotely interesting, but we can enjoy the species for what it is.

i think its not that hard since i have seen other examples but i gave it some tought.
in this pot it might not grow that much, i got two choices keep it tall and slender and just slowly improve it and let it age and slowly work on ramification and enjoy it as it is or i can plant it in bigger container let it go wild and chop it back and repeat and grow it into something else or instead of a pot into the ground for couple years.
im not sure yet for making an more interesting tree i must grow it out some in the ground but it was also a gift and the kids liked it this way thats why they bought it for me.
i understand from the horticulture/bonsai side i need to invest a couple years in fatting it up to make it into a better tree but in this case its also of emotional value as it is now we will see in the future what the choice will be as long as i keep it alive i can always decide to plant it in the ground!

I normally wait for @ABCarve's annual thread, but things are picking up around here!

Some of my trees have gone just plain ugly. Like hawthorns and oaks. At least for a photo? My quinces have already lost most of their leaves. But heres my submission. I wait to blow or pick off the leaves so they dont make a mess in winter stowage. Also a spooky tree.

How about this for fall color? This is a chojubai I got from Frank Mihalik this spring. It’s been blooming since mid August. Hmmmm???

Well that doesn't make sense? At first I thought you were in the other hemisphere. But thinking back this year some of my quinces kept blooming? Into August I'm not sure?

It sure doesn’t make sense! That’s kinda why I posted it. To see if anyone could comment on the anomaly. I’m thinking it might have come from the other hemisphere. Although I didn’t think you could import chojubai.BTW it’s still blooming profusely.

In my experience, chojubai seem to flower at odd times of year. I'm currently out of town but seem to recall seeing flower buds swelling on one of mine last week. We'll see when I get back this week.
