Hacks Celtis Occidentalis #1

Dang you got them fast. I ordered mine from Sheffield's also on the 24th and they are expected to arrive on the 30th.
Best of fun times for the future as you turn the little seeds into awesome bonsai trees that will net you with a bunch of points (as long as you get one point less than me lol)

If it makes you feel better, you'll both get more points than me!

Well I just hope we all get some to germinate and have some new little trees to play with. If we are lucky whoever gets the most points will do a fine job of documenting so the rest of us can borrow their skills!
I can go for that! Though It's not the germination that scares me. Its the afterwards that intimidates me!

Got around to separating these today, there were way more than I expected, approximately 100. Planted many of them at low angles. Maybe I'll wire a few after they get established.

I'm only participating with the one variety:
Celtis Occidentalis North American

I'm not sure how many entries I'll have but I'll record them all here in this single thread with the corresponding tree # and intend to respond each time to my last picture post of that tree. So if you see this thread and go to the end you should be able to easily rewind through that specific trees history.

Celtis Occidentalis North American #2

I threaded about 9 of these through a washer and loosely wired that to a board. Hopefully they'll fuse and roots start running out. I applied one loop of wire tight on top of the washer and gently eased the lot to one side. I'll tighten that wire up with more shape in the spring when they leaf out.

Cool attempt Hack. Nice to see some different styles and attempts being tried. it will make for interesting final judging and long term contest.
