From the photos I’ve seen. This tree is speaking to me the most. Feels like a wonderfully accurate representation of American forests.
I’ll see if I can get the copy. You gotta include the photo of Bob's very informative sign, which I appreciated!
Yeah. Not a fan of the pot
I believe this is Suthin's maple. I listened to him talk about the technique, it seems like it was very small carved out sections repeated over many years.I also adore this tree! I truthfully can't tell what it is. I suspect a maple? Nonetheless it's gnarly design is breathtaking, I really have so many questions about this tree and would've loved to ask it's creator about it, I feel like it's very much design choice and not even slightly accidental. I want to ask about the inspiration but also why not attempt to hollow the tree completely.![]()
I don’t know about “backyard”… it was an 8 hour drive for me. Well worth it though. Why must I not have beautiful shows like this in my backyard! I crave to understand the artists and the thought process! But these trees are really inspiring and give me a lot to think about
Pretty sure that’s a Carolina anoleA chameleon. They’re all over the place along the SE coast. Extremely nice ficus. Too![]()

Same thing. Grew up with them on the texas gulf coast. We called them chameleons. “Anole” is a weird wordPretty sure that’s a Carolina anole
Yes one of mine you either love it or hate it I would say 75% liked it....@Bob Hunter - I assume the pot is also your work?
Very cool, anyone got pics of the others? It is Suthin's! It was the accent tree to one of his Scots pines. I liked that he took advantage of the fall timing to defoliate it.
I was a little surprised that all three of his displays had cosmic style scarification on them. Three for three cosmic trees in the show from such a respected figure in the scene felt like a big endorsement of cosmic style as a thing
Actually an anole, probably the Green (or Carolina) anole.A chameleon. They’re all over the place along the SE coast. Extremely nice ficus. Too![]()
Yeah. It’s Anolis carolinensis. From the link below.Actually an anole, probably the Green (or Carolina) anole.
