Dawn Redwood looks more yellow than orange like last year. Nutrient deficiency?
I'm starting to think this JM is really confused about our current situation. I've had frost on the grass 4-5 times in the last ten days, & it's shooting new growth. Granted it's closer to the house and was knocked over in a wind storm despite bungee cords. No, cool fall color for this one.
Acer palmatum
started with dark chestnut red and got quite shiny
Cotoneaster horizontalis
And a comparison from my larger garden trees, imho nothing beats Acer palmatum Osakazuki (left) in its autumn colour, but surprisingly my Acer palmatum dissectum (right) had a very good year and showed off too!
While in 2024 we had severe winds in spring which damaged a lot of tender foliage early on, 2025 we saw sweeping winds last week, with all the lovely colour disappearing within 2 days. But in comparison 2025 was quite forgiving in keeping the leaves in good shape.
Very cool tree. Yeah, Our fall color was /is approximately two weeks behind schedule this year. The lack of low temps at night slowed everything down. By the time the leaves reached peak color, most had already fallen.
My hornbeams have been exceptional as far as color is concerned this year. Mostly oranges and vibrant reds.
My red maple is always getting fungus before I usually get to see color, but they are popping.
And finally my arakawa is putting on a dark cast this year before I assume it will eventually turn a bright red.
I love this tree and I cant wait to see it really show off.
Not much color on my trees so far. Sweet gums and 1 of 3 white willows have color. The rest of my deciduous trees are still green. The J. maples are just starting.
The sweet gum planting didn't have the best summer.
White Willow stick. This one has some color. One is still green and the other's leaves got brown and crunchy.
