Seeking good watering can

I was looking thru Kawasumi's "The Secret Techniques of Bonsai" and really admired the watering can he has pictured on page 96 (see attached image). It's small (probably less than 1 gal.), maybe stainless steel, has a long, straight spout (looks to be over 2' long), and has a straight-shot watering head (rather than the up-and-over versions typical of Haws cans and the like). It would be perfect for precision watering of my smaller bonsai, esp. those who don't like to get their leaves wet in the sun.

Frankly, I've never seen anything like this in any garden centers in my area. Could someone clue me in to where I could find a watering can like this, or something similar?

The ones at bonsaimonk.com and the top of dallasbonsai.com's list (WC75, 76, & 92) seem like what I'm looking for, though I'd be perfectly happy with a (cheaper) plastic can of the same design.

BTW, is there a name for that kind of spout? (It would make looking a bit easier.)

... not sure about the particular can you portrayed but Hawes cans the spout can be rotated downward, which is the way I use mine. Well at least the plastic ones I have both a 1 litre for indoors and a 2 litre for outdoors.

You can get them at Dallas Bonsai, and a few other specialty bonsai retailers. The copper ones aren't inexpensice, but boy do they look nice!

...right up until you drop them or bump them with something (or so I've been told...makes me cringe just thinking about it).

I think I responded to you at bonsaiTalk but the copper one will be fine (if you are dead set on this design). Copper is cheaper than the stainless. Comes with 2 nozzles. Get the smaller one if budget is a concern. I am not aware of one just like this in plastic, there are European ones that are similar but they lack 2 features which I find very nice. The Japanese ones have a removable screen over were you fill them to keep stray leaves and critters from entering and clogging the tip. They also have a very long spout and the long skinny spout is what delivers a nice fast rush of water for optimum dispersion.

Cans look nice, but to get the job done I use a wand.

I keep the cans on the bench for "charm."
