My Fukien Tea

What kind of phone do you have?

It's a good start
I'm not appalled by the s shape actually
You could just let it grow
It of course is up to you
If your going to chop it though go ahead while it's young
Then it can spend the next several years healing

How old do you think this tree is..I've had it 2 years and its grown in height but not trunk diameter so I was just curious to its age..thanks for your input

Well I did the chop..as soon as phone charges I will post a pic. I didn't chop it where I wanted to because the is only one pad below the chop, so it will have to be in stages when I get some branches lower.as it sits now I still have 6 branches on the tree so there should be enough foliage to sustain the tree

Rick,

see if you can find out which one of the Fukien teas you have, small, medium or large leaf [ there is also one from Texas ].
If it is the small, the trunk will only respond to ground growing.

Also check for cold tolerance, open ground, grown in South China nurseries means, clay soil and whatever weather hits it.

You might wish to take a cutting and leave it in the ground outside to see how it handles all year round ground growing.

It should be denser of leaf and have a few more branches, but the Fukien teas tend to be mostly leaf dense.

Easy to grow [ down here ]
Best of .growing
Good Day

It definitely won't handle ground growing here in Michigan. I believe it is the medium variety but I am getting them smaller with pruning so far it shows no sign of stress from being chopped. Getting ready to take a pic

Yep I remember now...have to excuse me I've had health issues that are of major concern so I'm really not thinking to clearly right now

I dig. Just got the same tree as a gift from the lady. Just a little home depot guy. Luckily I live in South Florida so light is not a big issue.

I seem to be getting some gnats in the Moss, that's the only issue. Neem oil seems to help a bit but I can't be sure yet.

Good luck on the tree, this might inspire me to trim mine down for some better shaping.

This tree is really growing well, but I have the setup for indoor growing lights, humidity tray, and even a humidifier if it dries out where the tray can't keep up, so that helps. I feed this tree once a month, but might cut back to every 3 months until spring gets here. And yes the pot is way to big. I have a pot coming for it and will change when I repot this spring.

I am having trouble keeping my trees from drying out. Somewhere along thw way I messed up my soil mix, and can't get it right again. I have to water twice a day, and I'm pretty sure I shouldn't have to do that. I water my fukien tea once a week

And I put that in the wrong thread..should have been in my ficus thread

I know the pot is too big. I will repot it in the spring to a smaller pot. Question is, is it femine or masculine.

Can you explain the wiring, or why you'd wire up the trunk like that? I assumed it would be got the new branches to move them where you want.

I was going to do something similar with a fading gardenia bush we have, trim it and wire it together to see if it'll grow that way.

Nice plant also, liking the sideways action.

I didn't wire it like that..I got it like that. I have some small wire on a branch I wanted to pull down but most is clip and grow method
