...that is if we really do own these things...but that is a question for another thread:)

In the summer of 2005 I attended the World Bonsai Conference in Washington, DC. In the vendors area was a booth that was selling off the collection of a local longtime bonsai hobbyist who had recently passed. I purchased a tree that this gentleman had grown from seed he had sown in the mid 1950s...at least that is what I was told. I would like to know this gentleman's name for the purpose of maintaining a history on the tree.

Can anybody tell me this gentleman's name???

Thanks,
John

Hello John
I was there and bought a tree from this vendor as well. I will try and find the pin with the owners name. I do think the name of the club was Kawa en ? I bought a white pine that was grown from seed since1956, my friend also bought a couple of tree's from this same vendor.

Same story I was told...1956...I bought a Japanese Maple. Thanks for trying to find out some more info for me.

Keith Scott, originally from Cleveland, OH, now from Pittsburgh, PA was selling the bonsai collection of JOHN KIPP II who lived in Maryland. His business "Kawa Bonsai En" was a major importer of bonsai containers in the 1950s. Most of his containers were from the Yamaaki Kiln in Tokoname, Japan and of very high quality.

Thanks! John Kipp is the persons name. My friend Nomiyama and i acquired a few trees from the seller. I got a tremendously old Wisteria and Western Hemlock. I still have the wisteria. Great trees.
