Anything fast draining. They want to dry out a bit between waterings then soak em like mad. Remember you can cut anywhere and they will bud back. Don't be shy with these and stay on top of the pruning so it does not get leggy.

Oh and as much sun as you can get it where you are. Seal the cuts they rot fast.

100% pumice sound good?


I got it for a good deal and I am chopping it to a stump, removing most of the roots (3 or 5 gal can).


If it flowers this year, should I allow it to?

Pumice would be perfect I would think. With regard to the flowering I would not let it this year.

Good finds. Are you repotting already this year?

Technically most potting needs to be done here by the end of January with Junis and such stretching into Feb. I try to follow Smoke's schedule as close as I can we are pretty close in climate.
