Has anyone here had any success with a root cutting from a yew?
A few days ago I picked up a Taxus x media 'Dark Green Spreader' from our local Lowe's. As I was digging down to locate the nebari, I found an aerial root that had sprouted from a low branch, very close to the trunk.
That root couldn't work in my tentative design, so I removed it at the branch. But it had plenty of feeder roots at the lower end, so I potted it up, with most of the above-ground portion sticking out of the soil. That portion is almost as thick as a pencil, with normal yew bark.
I'm going to keep it moist and shaded, and see what happens.
