Was PM'd and asked to update this Juniper that some of you may or may not recognize (1st pic).It s been a while so I thought I'd go ahead and do it. Was going to put it in the gallery but then was asked to show the back and was not sure how to lump them all together  so I thought I would do it here.

Just got done rewiring it with 500 feet of fine copper (22, 20, 18). If you've never fine wired a big tree its an experience you will soon not forget...of this I'm confident. She looks a bit disheveled still, but I thought with the time of year I best give the ole gal a break...which includes myself.

Still a lot to be done deadwood refinement, bark, separation....but its one step forward towards an end image:)

It's a beauty.
Couldn't have done better myself:D

How tall is it? It seems to be about two feet tall, so it must be rather spectacular in person.

I don't even want to think about wiring, I just can't get myself to like it, no matter how many times I do it. But I love the looks of a tree after the wiring is done.

Is this the same tree that was stolen and later recovered?

Tom,

thank you for posting the new images including the back of the tree. I like that you stood up the
tree a bit and slightly changed the angle clockwise. That probably gave you a better angle for the first two
branches on the right, took care of the two jins in the front of the trunk (and thus closing
the "lookthrough" a bit more) and gave you an allover more balanced tree.

The canopy of the back shows more depth IMO than the front. The pads in the back also seem more
consistently horizontal than in the front. But that is just me being picky..:D

I like the tree! I would change my initial score to an "8" now..:)

That's a very nice tree, Tom!

I haven't followed its progress - maybe others know the answers, but can you say a bit about the tree's history and size.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Dorothy, thanks for the review...Yes, getting it up higher helped. With such a big canopy it almost begged for it. I still think that it might need to come a tiny bit further forward towards the right front corner. I am however limited as to just how much I can do. The structure of the canopy was started by splitting the trunk high up and there is only so much I can do with it anymore as the cambium was twisted pretty well. See the pics below

I agree the front needs to be dressed up. I attribute this condition to belly blight due to the size of the canopy:D When it cools a bit in these parts I will go back and address that. Thanks for the bump in the rating:) I'll persevere to see if I can get you to go higher in the future.

That's a very nice tree, Tom!

Isn't that the truth Dorthy. It was a tough chore to make myself go slow with 22 to keep the wiring refined....which is hard to do when you want the monotony to be over. It took 2+ weeks at about 5 hours a day ... which is all I could handle till my arthritic old bones would rebel.

There is something to say about choosing smaller trees to develop :D
