Because I have more than 15 pomegranate at this time, I like to create its own topic to help me organize better!
It is beautiful New Year day with lot of sunshine, cool and dry here. It is the best time to perform trimming on the pomegranate. The reason is that its leaves are all gone, so it is easy to look at its branch structures. The last growing season long branches can be cut back to 2-3 nodes depending on location and design.
Few days ago, I removed all the wires on the pomegranates. I love to use aluminum wire on the pomegranate for many reasons. One of the reasons is less stress to my eyes and my mind! I am serious! ;)

Anyone who grows these must appreciate what has been done to make these canopies. This is not an easy species to do this with. Excellent trees Bonhe.

I think the convention is back in Riverside again this year. When I come down we gotta hook up so you can give me one of these, you know, just because I have a pot with balls on it!

One of my favorites and you do them so well! Thank you for showing and please continue to share your insights.
Thanks for your kind words, milehigh_7
I know pomegranate is one of your favorites! :)
To train pomegranates, I have been using cut and grow (to change direction), wiring (to bring young branch down) and pulling (to bring the big branch down). This training technique is a little different with the tamarix training to which I learned from my teacher, Richard Ota.

Oh, I love this one. It really does it for me... Nice work my friend.
Thanks JudyB. I named this tree "Lone pomegranate"
