i found this juniper on the side of some railroad tracks. i believe it has potential and it seems healthy.

it appears to be naturally stunted.

It's a good find. If the rail road is still active it has probably been hacked back by rail road employees or the actual passage of the train.

Out of curiosity where are you keeping this juniper. Normally Juniperus Virginiana foliage turns dark almost a purply color in winter. I kinda like this one see some potential

Good find, CC! Nice taper, plenty of low foliage -- definite potential.

I think Vance is right: stunting has probably been done by the hand of man, for what that's worth. It's still a nice little tree.
