I went out about dusk to check on my trees, some of the shohins needed a little water. As most of you already know all of my trees are conifers, but even in the dim light, I just stood there and thought to myself, how lucky I am to be able to be the caretaker of someting so beautiful. I hope everone else feels the same way I do, what a great hobby. I hope whoever ends up with my trees after I'm gone, loves them as much as I do.

keep it green,
Harry

That was the nicest thing that I've heard today, thanks for reminding us why we are here!

Harry, the only thing better than enjoying them by yourself is enjoying them with another. Though I can't be there physically, I can be there in spirit. Thanks for sharing!

At the end of the day, twenty minutes of enjoying my trees can erase a day's worth of the stress brought about by working with junior high students. I am always grateful.

Great thoughts Harry! It is a wonderful hobby. We are blessed to have found bonsai.

Barry, I find a lot of Peace amongst my bonsai too.

Thanks for the great post, Harry.

I've never understood the idea of setting up a sprinkler system to water the trees daily - the time spent, even briefly, looking at each tree as I water in the evening each day is a sacred time, not to be missed.

Cheers.

Agreed Harry.

Even though all my trees are under mulch and cover for the winter, I can still get glimpses of them and make plans for next spring--almost better than Christmas.

I may not be able to see them much longer, we're apparently in for a big snowstorm--12 inches predicted, "thunder snow" squalls, etc. It's the apocalypse according to the local news channel...:D

Keep searching for a girlfriend who "gets it". Just ask Miss Vic and Angelfire. They are in love with bonsai and each other. No need to explain why you spent all day repotting or spent so much on the pots. I envy their shared love of bonsai. Keep looking.

This post reminds me of something Shinji Suzuki said at a lecture/demo I attended a few years ago. He spoke quite eloquently on his love for Bonsai and he also said something to the effect that he also thought that everyone that practiced this art were on the "right side".
While I might not be able to listen to Rush for more than a minute or so, a couple of my best friends in my club are avid listeners, and it doesn't matter one bit because there's something that is much stronger that binds us together

Just for the record, I don't listen to talk radio, I much prefer to listen to Jazz. I don't watch much news on TV, unless there is some major event unfolding, then I search for the cable station with the best coverage. I get my poitical news from other sources, I like to make up my own mind.
