You have goodies I've never known you owned...this is sweet!

Oh...I suppose I own a tree now. A Kifu sho size (I think that's right...next size up from a shohin) Bald Cypress.

You are supposed to add a photo to any post you make in this thread.View attachment 136237
Ok redo. When placing your display post in the ground, are you securing it with gravel, sand, rocks, or some other method? Photo is of a Rocky Mountain Juniper collected by Randy Knight currently residing at The Hidden Garden Bonsai.

They're supposed to be pictures of your own trees!

I'm going to see if I can get this one ready to show this weekend.

Ok here is a tree I own. 3 years after collection. Next two years I would like elongated growth and to repot.

Question, When placing your display post in the ground, are you securing it with gravel, sand, rocks, or some other method? I noticed the display post in the photos.

Thank you.

Kurume azalea recently repotted into this Koyo pot.
That foliage is spectacular! I only get bits and pieces of it down here but what a treat to see it on a whole tree.

Dawn Redwood in the only decent picture of it next to a yardstick:

This one looked like yours 15 years ago...wish I would have cut it back harder then. One day you'll be glad you made the hard cuts now..if you can bring yourself to do it. They only get harder to do later! That lowest right shoot is now the primary left branch, and the heavy left subtrunk is now to the back of the tree.

Now...rotated about 90* clockwise from the photo above...after slowly but surely replacing too-thick branches with thinner ones. Still have that lower back subtrunk to go. One day...

I think I have my heart on this becoming a single trunk of similar style as yours, Brian. Perhaps I'll ground layer this year when leaves harden and see what I might keep for grafts and thickening. Mark those and remove what I won't keep.
