To Funny!

Just loaded up a new video today up on my YouTube channel...
Regarding the Cleanup of my Literati Style Buttonwood, in preparation for this years growth.

And was notified of the usual copyright notices regarding the use of music, which is fine and no big deal...

Usually the notice lets you know that you cannot obviously use their copyrighted material to
make a "Profit" off of... Which I totally get. That as long as the video was "Educational Purposes"...
that it would be fine to use. Which is what the video is... So... no real big scoop... just the usual formality.
Which I am obviously more than happy to comply with.

Except... and I do mean "Except"... This time there was an additional Notice informing me that because
of the copyrighted material... that my video would be "Banned" in some countries...

So... I was like WTF? As one normally would be... Right? Why would it be Banned in some countries?
And I click on the Info Tab, next to the notification, to try and get more details...
Which took me to another screen, that notified that my video was Banned in the United Kingdom.

And I was like... the United Kingdom?
Again... WTF?
Why in the world would it be Banned in the United Kingdom?
So Strange Right?

Then it donned on me...
The Copyrighted Track that I had put in my Movie... Was from the Sex Pistols!
Which made me start rolling with laughter!
To think that in this day in age... the Sex Pistols are still Banned in England... That someone could quite
literally piss off the establishment so much, with just some music, that they would eternally seek to not
let their music ever be played or recognized... in the country from which they originate.

That 40 years later... you cannot still apparently listen to the Sex Pistols in England.
Even though they are from actually England... and we are not talking North Korea here!

So... for my friends in the UK... I apologize!
Tomorrow, I will post up another version of the video... with a different Copyrighted Song. I promise!
I refuse to pull the video due to pure stupidity! I will entitled the UK version... "The Un-Banned Version" LOL!

As For the rest of the World...
Enjoy the Holiday in the Sun! And the Literati Styled Buttonwood Bonsai... God Save the Queen!
I wonder if Iron Maiden is still Banned? :)

The sex pistols are not banned in the UK... Long standing myth, i actually wish it was true because that would be funny as hell. Sadly not!

God save the Queen was banned by the BBC, but that's the extent of it back in the day. So there is some other weird reason your video has been banned unfortunately.

Pretty sure it is a royalty issue as the Pistols are most certainly not banned.

This is a relief to hear!
When I lived over in the UK we use to listen to them all the time... Glad to hear I wasn't somehow breakin' the Law.

Just wasn't sure if this was some new crack down, seeing that things across the Pond seem to be kinda squirrly as they are over here, nowadays...
Lol!

Will have to see if I can investigate further...
It might be just a Royalty Issue?
Usually, though when it is... it is labeled by YouTube as being "Blocked"... not Banned.

The MP3 of the song was actually taken from one of my old CD's, I picked up pretty much when CD'S first came out. Which has been over 20 years now...

So, perhaps it has something to do with that?
I do know that when the album Never Mind the Bullocks, Here's the Sex Pistols first came out back in the 70's... that for us in America, it was put through a different record company at the time. This was back before record companies had their shit together, before alot of them had international companies... so often they would sell the rights to another company, in another country... to produce it for their market.

Perhaps this is where the problem lies? It being an older copy, with a different digital stamp, from the first release with an American Company... that the original company now has some sort of dispute with?

Perhaps a newer release date of the song would not have such issues?

Anyways... I got a couple of things to do today. As soon as I am finished with them, will find a new song... drop it in, and post it up. Will notify everyone when I do.

I just have to now try and figure out a song that was banned in the US! For this seems only fitting... Lol!

Youtube and twitter are "sensitive" on this lately.
I watched the video and kept waiting for the part that would describe in some reasoning where "Perhaps this is where the problem lies"... seeing that you only quoted me saying this. I also, went looking for the part regarding how YouTube and Twitter might be sensitive....

I gotta say, I found nothing that would point me in any of these directions. So... not really sure where you are going with this?

But, Ok...
Thanks for the Post!

Well... the only thing I could possibly do, would be to "Assume"...

Assume... that there is @Dalmat some "Political point" he is trying to make. And rather than to just come right out with it... he has chosen the path of beating around the bush and cloak and dagger, as again... I can only Assume... as some great magnificent... I Gotcha Moment.

He can correct me if I am wrong...
But, I think the whole point he was trying to make was that Johnny Rotten supports Trump.

That by going through and cherry picking my post. Pulling out just one line... out of about 7 paragraphs, which had nothing to do really with political discussion... he could then turn it into one... to further his view that there is, I guess some conspiracy regarding YouTube and Twitter against Trump.

Which... ok, if he likes to believe in fairy tales. .. then have at it!

Johnny Rotten is allowed to like who he likes...

YouTube most certainly has just as many videos that are Pro-Trump, as they do that are against Trump.

Twitter would probably be out out of business if it wasn't for Trump, his rediculous 3am morning tweets, and his cult of followers who can't wait to click a re-tweet button.

So, not really any I Gotcha moment.
Just more saddness... that this thread is turning into a personal beef.

But, that's ok... we have already spent way to much time on him as it is... and time to move on!

I'm sure it is a copyright issue. It all depends on the copyright law in the given country and what whoever owns the copyright to that work wants to allow.

This is almost always a copyright issue. YouTube has to ban certain infringing videos in certain jurisdictions or it can be held liable for the infringement, or incur a licensing fee it doesn't want to pay, or even get enjoined from doing business in that jurisdiction.
