I found a Craigslist ad for a 16yr old escallonia. I got it out of the ground and in a pot. My plan is to keep it out of the sun and watered. It's in good soil and ready to recover (hopefully). My question is what my plan might be. It has three trunks and I'm thinking one or more of them will need to go.

I believe the next step is let it be for a year or two but what comes after that?

Yes, one or more of the trunks will need to go.
Yes, let it recover for a year or two. It's too early
say what comes after that.

Now that's just wrong.. But. I will pay much much more than that for the second one. Like maybe 10 times that amount if I can see some foliage.

Because it was so large and the rootball had grown so dense that when i took a vacation it was sadly not watered well enough. On of my saddest losses with the most potential:(
If you don't mind me asking, how did it turn out?

Thanks for the reply. This is why I find it important to have some sort of automated watering system. I'm a beginner and I just can't trust myself to stay on top of every project I have going. Sorry to hear it didn't turn out.
