Did you take the cutting yourself? Was it from another bonsai or a full grown tree? Did it already have foliage when it was “cut” from the donor tree? Pardon all the questions.

No,this was just placed on my bench when it was un-winterized. Scott Lee did all the footwork prior to it arriving on my bench.
Would imagine removed as a cutting in early spring.

So...we are in the last days of fall color as its went and started dropping leaves. A reminder winter is around the corner.

So in town today I looked the large leaves of the ginkgo's lining the street. Brought one home for size comparison. Picked the largest leaf which had fallen from my tree. mind boggling!

He's quirky...thanks. Bought him when I used to put out mushrooms. (Decor for yard) He has a mushroom that matches his shell. But...I put those away when the pups came. They claimed the front yard...and their romping tosses large pieces of turf. So no breakables at ground level.

That light pale yellow is marvelous!

Do you have a mind to cut them "3knobs" out the top?

I gotta share you this Cuz I didn't like that straight section on the middle trunk initially.....

But this is almost screaming some kinda triple trunk chi chi flambe!

20171104_050230.jpg

Dunno if you were not digging that straight section too...
And leaving it run rampant as a sacrifice...

But I would address that red knob cut area..
(And anything hidden in the top top too)
@Brian Van Fleet this fall?
To allow for its pleasant use iffin it chooses..

Cuz it seems like back buds are no problem!

I am excited Cuz this hit a new switch for me.
And I don't like "flame" style at all.....

But this has an ability to pull off a version of it that would be fantastic. 3 awesomely different sized trunks....
Chi chis....

Marvelous!

Darlene....

I have a glaze that would kill with that tree....

What's the size of that pot?

I would like to make you a pot for it.

1. So I can practice.
2. Because you are a wonderfully inspiring good person.

That is a generous thought Sorce, and you are to kind with compliments...thank you my friend...it's currently in a 10x5 bulb pot. When I asked Scott Lee (whom I purchased it from) what size pot to get for it. He said it wasn't ready for a pot yet...if anything go up in size to develop it.

The butter yellow is simply stunning...absolutely stunning. I don't feel I have given it justice at all.

You put some thought into this tree...that's kind of you. I'm not sure if I want that much going on. More simplicity. Though...flame I have seen shapes that have seemed more in depth of a flame, yet still flame. I am going to focus on such. Once it's dormant...I will focus on which branches to trim to help me get to that point.

Examples...some may cringe at...but I think they are quirky...more bold of a flame. Having the lower left branches on my own tree...I see making it easier to pull off. Ginkgo does not follow normal thought process we learn for bonsai as in what is acceptable in branch habit. Might be a "two flame" verses a three flame you spoke of...?

Unsure of the owners of the tree. Photos taken from Google Image.

How'd it take as a cutting? Are they easy to root? And what time of year did u do it at?

Beautiful tree :))
I can't take credit for this tree. I purchased it from Scott Lee who developed it. I would imagine as with any tree...you do so in the early spring so it has time to develop a root system.

I, with no expectations, stuck one cutting in pot of old perlite under my bench and it formed a lot of callus like it was about to explode with roots, and then I think my cats knocked it over. So I have a feeling they strike pretty easily.
