The first part of my order arrived today, lots of cool young trees but none are really ready to style. The Callistemon I wanted was a mini variety and I know they come ready made for a style but I could only get the larger variety which nurseries let get leggy. It could be a good bonsai eventually but now just needs to be cut back and I doubt having a stump as my finished entry would be much good.:D

There may be one something else I can enter from this delivery but will wait and see if the second batch of plants turn up before deadline and what is in there.

I was walking around the pond today looking for the second victim.
I;m looking at this as a most improved contest and I have lots of room for improvement trees abound.
Was gonna cave and buy a mugo but they sold em out,
My next entry is a stump of a corkscrew willow. Lots of room for improvement there... I'll post it up this weekend unless I come to my...

I'm going to wait until the last minute to see if the rest of my order comes through tomorrow which I highly doubt it will so I will probably enter an Eremophila.

I don't understand how this thread can be closed down so early in the development stage and I don't understand who as the authority to close the thread and disallow me from posting and how can you possibly vote on anything when it is not available for examination. I went to the link where this was announced and found I was prohibited from posting a reply there? I'm still working on my two trees and I have yet to see the final results from any of the other entries, this makes no sense to me. I have only posted the entries not the final results. We are supposed to post the finished trees in another thread to be buried in the depths of archive posts?

I will open another thread to post the progressions(end results) close to the date of the contest end date wich also can be used to cast votes

Also its impossible to get buried in the contest section since there arnt that much contests :)

@defra so are we supposed to create a thread in the appropriate forum for the tree we are entering? do I post my Juniper progression in the juniper forum?

and then when the contest is complete, do we move our final entry pic to the forum you create for voting?

Its fine by me have a thread about your entered tree elsewere on the forum
As long you follow the rules on posting the results in the entry thread when the time comes.

Doh lol i forgot to enter my seccond entry haha

Oops, lol.

So I did some trimming and wiring to my Eremophila today, kind of a funky tree to work on. Well it is a bush really which is half the issue, if you google them their natural growth is kind of hard to make a tree shape from but I may be on to something. Or not at all but now I'll wait and see what happens in Spring. My other entry may be dead already.

I for one wouldn't mind an exception in your case. Appreciate you putting this and the other contest together.

Put a couple wires on my willow but waiting on them both to go dormant. Willow still has green leaves. Forecast is next 3 days with highs below freezing and lows in the teens... that should do it.
