My favorite part is when it says : "This is the ultimate in environment control". I assume that what the seller means is that our environment needs more junk like this.

But I have to admit that this is a smart product for those who are unfamiliar with bonsai: They can show to their friends and say: "Look, this is a real banzai that doesn't need water and lasts forever, just like the pyramids of Ghiza, whoaw, isn't it cool". They cannot kill it, which is a good thing. Kind of like taxidermy.

For all the difficulties I've gone through in learning to turn my thumb green, I don't think I've ever had a time in my life when I actually wanted fake houseplants. The closest I've ever gone is fake aquarium plants and I only did that because the real ones can make almost as much mess in the tank as the fish. I've noticed that people who work in an environment with fake plants eventually seem to stop noticing them. In my own opinion, as soon as a "plant" ceases to be a living thing, it ceases to be a benefit to its surroundings in the same way a real plant can be. Of course, there's probably some study that would be a basis for disagreeing with me.

Funny, some of these trees are as expensive as having your deceased pet freeze dried :D:rolleyes:

Take a look at the price list here:

I guess you could add this practice to the "ultimate environmental control" as "ex-pets" don't shed, bark, meow, eat, poop, pee or otherwise interact with anything. I guess you have to dust them occasionally...:D
