These are my proposed displays for our local show this year. Feel free to offer constructive critique! I learned a lot about placement and details on Monday during our study group. Have to give my teacher @Owen Reich much credit and thanks for my progress in learning how to display (among other things!) in a far cleaner and better way than I have been accustomed to. It is one thing to look at books and pictures, but 3 dimensions are pretty different and change the game significantly. I also learned that the tiniest detail can make monumental differences in perception.
I have one detail that I have not decided on, and that is which wood slab to use under the accent plant in the Hornbeam display. I have three choices, one is light wood, the other two are pretty similar, one is slightly larger and less aggressive live edge than the other.

First up is my Korean Hornbeam "Seventh Samurai"
with the three different slabs, and closeups of them as well.

Second is a three point display. I hope that they allow me to retain the spacing between the two trees, as the negative distance really changes how the display feels.
Silverberry on the root stand, Goji Berry as secondary tree, and moss accent.

Things look really good to my untrained eye! What is that semi-cascade tree in the last post - silverberry? olive?

Last one is the metal stand display that my talented metal artist pal made for me. He has told me that he'd be up for it if anyone has interest for stands like this. I plan on some other ones in differing shapes, the possibilities are kind of endless. It is coated in a paint additive that keeps it from rusting so I can actually even use it outside.
Korean Hornbeam ,Japanese Maple Deshojo, bronze frog, and some pond marginal as accent. And my photography assistant!

Yes silverberry, I went back and edited the plant names in. Thanks Chris, it's a process... I still have a long way to go.

Those are Next Level, Judy. Very nice job. On first glance, the only thing I’d suggest is to put a smaller accent with your shohin display.
Yeah, I wish I had a shrink gun to zap that pot with, the reason I'm using it, is the fish and the frog and the marginal plant all encompass the summer idea of this display. I'm probably going to have another small metal stand built to keep it lower to the table, that may take it down a notch in scale. Baby steps Bri..., I've had lots of help along the way to get this far, from you and many others on this site as well, so Thanks!

I quite like them! In particular the tables/stands for the main display items seem to be of appropriate style and size as far as I can tell, which is great. You use that metal stand I remember from a previous post very well I think.

The stands for the accompaniments are ok too but in general I prefer the larger options where presented. Some of the smaller ones seem cramped for space, which always bothers me.

So the one for the moss, and which other ones seem too small to you? And thank you!

Some lovely pieces there. For the hornbeam’s accent, I think either the first or third slab works best, probably the third. If you use the first, the pot should be on the right hand side of the slab with some space to the left - currently it’s implying a movement to the left, which is the opposite of what you want.
I actually think the slab under the moss is OK (though I think the pot should be central as it’s round). The smaller table in that display is a little on the small side for me but that’s just nitpicking.
I wonder what the display with the round stand would look like if you lost the deshojo, and put the accent plant in its place (without a stand under it). Accent might dominate too much then though.
Lovely root stand -do you know who made it?
Great stuff anyway, I like it all and wouldn’t have nitpicked if you hadn’t invited it!

Well the two specifically that seem too tight are the gojiberry, and the maple when it’s on the single stand. The moss actually looks ok to me. I don’t want to be pretentious as I’ve not been trained in displays, I just focus on such things a lot and have opinions.

I welcome critique, it is always good to have more eyes evaluating. I agree the third slab seems the most likely to me, the first one is too small to really move over to give the feeling of movement, but the third one even has a sort of peninsula that points in the right direction.

LOL, the moss not being centered was the first thing I saw too! Notice how in the black background photos it's centered!!! Tiny difference, big impact.

I don't think the stand works with just one main tree, feels a bit grandiose for a single element and accent to me.

The root stand was made by a guy in Thailand who is on FB Wan Adisa Thatsaniyom, he builds and ships these everywhere.

Thank you for the careful evaluation.

Oh my bad the maple is on a stand on the stand and you aren’t showing different options just a close up pic. It seems better in the bigger pic when the whole thing is shown.

Hey, everyone sees things in their own way. I agree with both of you that the goji berry stand is a bit small. I may try to find something, but small stands are hard! Thanks :)

Yes, I won't show it separately, that's why I didn't answer to that line. In the display it seems to work, but I agree as a stand alone, not so much. Glad you don't think the moss stand is too small, I rather think it's perfect!

What size is the pot the gojiberry is in?
