Here are a few yellow pots that were part of last weeks firing.

All are made of a cone 10, porcelain clay body.

As always, your feedback and comments are welcome.

Regards,
Paul

Beautiful and congratulations, especially the white one. As far as I can see no blemishes on that one.

Snobird,

Thank you, I appreciate the compliment.

When you refer to the "white one", are you talking about the last pot? If so, that pot is actually a very pale yellow color.

Paul

Here are a couple more pots finished in the pale yellow glaze.

Does this glaze look white to anyone else?

Thanks,
Paul

Thanks Darrell, I appreciate the feedback.

You working on any new pots?

Regards,
Paul

No, maybe this winter, but "life" seems to be keeping me plenty busy!

Yes, the light yellow ones look off-white to me.

Paul,

Yes, the pale yellow glaze appears white. Not a bad thing, they are certainly not ugly.

Can you post another picture of them, I would appreciate having a chance to see what you see concerning the pale yellow.

That said, in the first group of 5 pots, I agree with darrellw about #2 and 4. Are any of these pots for sale, especially #2 or 4? I think they might be quite extraordinary with the right azalea in them.

Regards,
Martin

Love that burnt yellow on #4. The last 2 pots, the 1st one looks off white (probabaly due to lighting), the 2nd has a slight yellow tinge to it. Pots themselves are too perfect looking for me ;o)

Thanks for the feedback Darrell.

As you know, it is quite challenging getting a good quality, accurate image of each pot. With all the different computer monitors out there, true color is sometimes compromised.

Hello Martin,

Thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate the compliments very much.

In regards to your request for additional photos, please give me a couple of days on this one. I will need to change my photo setup and take a few using a different light source.

How is your Red Maple coming along?

Regards,
Paul

Hi Keith,

Come on now, not all pots need to have cracks in them.

What light source would you recommend for taking ceramic pot photos?

As always, your input is very much appreciated.

Have a great day.

Paul

Paul,

Pots look great, like the shape of #2 best. What are you using for lights and their position? Could also be the white balance within the camera producing the off color, shutter speed can also effect this.

I use Day Light Color Fluorescent bulbs with the camera's white balance on sunny. Bulbs are not pointed at the subject as it tends to wash out the color, try to feather the light. Meaning use the edge of the light where it starts to fall off a bit as is not so intense (in between near edge and the fall off point). This will also produce less shadowing.

Keith,

I currently use incandescent bulbs for my light source with the camera's white balance set on incandescent. Normally this set-up works very well. However, there are some glaze colors that do not seem to translate well. The lights are filtered and set up so they do not shine directly on the subject. I always shoot in the manual mode and pick both the f-stop and the shutter speed myself.

Thanks for the information on the Day Light Color Fluorescent bulbs, I will look into these.

I appreciate the feedback.

Regards,
Paul

Here are a couple more yellow pots.

These two pots are made of a brown stoneware clay body.

Enjoy,
Paul

I just stumbled into this thread. What nice pots! I really like the brown-yellow glaze on the last two. That last thin one is just spectacular. I really like white pots too. They look good for elms. I will post some of my elms in white pots later.
Thanks for sharing your work!
