Well a good many of the trees are in their early and late 30's, some are older,
but were bought old.

This year, February was a month of high 60's and we said goodbye to
some efforts, mostly Serrisa s, Fukien tea and a few pthers.
Might have been the full sun and then cold night or lack of extra P205.
Not sure, but everyone has had monthly doses of Blaucorm over the
rainy season, which has P205.
We will see.

Also will the Russian cold reach out again ?

We also discovered that it used to be 2 weeks in bright light, and not
one week when repotting,
Actually, noted on the Ficus p. roots did take two weeks to restart.
So that is the new practice.

Shifting to March/April/May fpr repotting those that need it.
A little odd to realise that most of our under 3- 4 inch Gmelinas are
are around 28 to 30 years. [ 8 to 10 cm ]
Pines are up for repotting and the little seedlings are due to be potted
up.
Let you know how it all goes.
Good Day
Anthony

Are you saying that after repotting ficus you're only giving it 2 weeks aftercare because new roots will be forming that quickly?

Explanations -

@AlainK and @Dav4 ,

normally our lows at night are around 70 deg,F and maybe once or
twice a week we will drop to 69/68 deg.F at night from
as early as 6 p.m or more normally around 10 p.m.
This low will hold until around 8 a.m.

Never experienced a month of nightime lows of 69/68 and the lowest
was 65 deg,F

The daytime max for 10 to 30 minutes is a high 80 deg.F

@Johnathan ,

the early readings had books saying, after repotting. place
in bright light for one week.
Then we found out that the aftercare was actually 2 weeks
in bright light.

Observation on a Ficus p. showed that it took two weeks
for the tree to grow new roots.
This is important to note, as the Ficus is a fast grower.
The other tree types woul respond even more slowly.

Apologies for beig as clear as mud.

Wait so, you're not doing anything special after a repot. Just right back into full sun?

@Johnathan ,

the trees will have a wax coating on them from before the repot,
that protects them from full sun.

So after the re-pot, and the [ now ] 2 weeks of bright light, you
can be cautious and give sun for 3 hours and next week go to
4 and so on.
But for us down here, after the bright light, just return to full
sun.

****Please note our repot is just to slice an inch or inch and a half
from the sides and underneath.****

We only - Bare Root - when we purchase stock from outside -
like a plant nursery.
Bare root operations are done by observation, and require
a slower introduction into sunlight.

Bare rooting also slows down a tree by months.

Ahhh okay, I was confusing "bright light" for full sun. I dig it now. I smell what you're stepping in!
