Like “The Tree Thread”, this is a new thread where, if you comment, you have to post a picture of one of your Shohin trees (8” or less in height), in a Bonsai pot, and ideally in a display format. You can post the same tree multiple times, in different seasons, different arrangements, or with different accents. Please include pot maker.

Therefore, as we continue commenting on each others' trees, we post more Shohin trees.

I’ll start with this example.

Counter-clockwise from top left:
Corkbark JBP in Shibakatsu
Crabapple in Roy Minarai
J. Maple in Koyo
Accent in Bunzan
Itoigawa in Bigei

I would LOVE to be able to participate in thus thread, but unfortunately, I don’t have very many nice Shohin. It is a great idea for a thread though...

Well, I MIGHT have one or two...

OK, I've posted this picture before but here's one just to join in.

This little Acer palmatum will be taking a couple of years off from display as I've bitten the bullet and decided to replace the branches on the left hand side. They are a different cultivar to the rest of the tree, with noticeably different leaves. I think this was a result of a doing a root graft years ago and never cutting off the top growth, though I'm not quite sure.

I'm now in the process of taking some branches from the right hand side and approach grafting them to the left hand side. Then I'll cut off the current left-hand side branches.

That's the plan anyway, it could all turn into a horrible mess.

here’s a young Arakawa

not the ideal cultivar for shohin, but i don’t see what else to do with this trunk

it’s got a great root spread (under the substrate)

It’s got buds emerging from everywhere, so lots of options!

Awesome backdrop....
Thanks!
Japanese black pine in a Chinese training pot on a Jerry Braswell stand. Still a few years from being top shelf ready, but I’ve got a few nicer pots to move it into at the next re-pot.

Where’s your photo sir?
I can’t see it.

Actually I was Gobsmacked at the quality of photo's and prep. Reminded me of being at a club show on the morning the trees come in.:D:D:D

Relative newcomer to shohin. Took a long time to learn how to keep them alive in such small pots first.

Display at the recent Wodonga Ag show

P1210144.JPG
Trees: Acer palmatum; Acer beurgeranum; Cotoneater microphylla; Ulmus parvifolia 'Seiju'; Ficus rubiginosa; Pinus thunbergia. Pretty sure the pots are all cheap Chinese. Stands by me.
