Ahh, I think I understand. You are in NW Arkansas. And the closest Bonsai shops are Brussel's just south of Memphis or in Little Rock. I'm a little thick sometimes.

Ya gotta keep your trunks thick and your head clear, the other way around is no good ;)

Al, sadly,

on our side this is considered very bad form.
Poor folk often get themselves into embarrassing situations
wanting everyone to know how much something costs.

I would have expected to just show the effort and the Design
potential is obvious.

* In Fine Art when the technique is mastered, then comes the
more important ----- Philosophy.
Hence the idea on you guys sitting down to discuss, as opposed
to the blog. Want to read the interaction of your minds, and it
ain't technique.
Lol. I agree. What's in the price? The price is set by what someone is willing to pay for it and the current demand.

That's what I was thinking. I'm guessing depending on the pot, that that could be as much as 1/2 -2/3 the cost of the purchase.
All of the things add up to basically a really cheap tree. Wire, pot, soil, screen, time.
He gave me a fantastic deal!

I think this thread is for transactions that have taken place at 300.
Easiest to say: what do you have that you paid 300.
Paid $325 for both of these rough stock. Stewartia $175 and JBP $150. Pots not included. Should be fun to develop.

First off, I apologize for the background noise in the photo, but I’m recovering from surgery and not moving big stuff for better photo ops. This is a climbing hydrangea owned by a friend who passed away a year ago. It was for sale at the nursery where I help run their monthly group, so I did not have to pay the asking price of $350, but that’s what it’s stated value was. Due to my friend’s failing health toward the end, all of his trees were quite neglected and will take some well planned work to get into good shape. What I love about this tree is how unique the species seems to be in the bonsai world, and despite the flowers being rather large, they are spectacular when in bloom. The flaking bark is also quite beautiful. I didn’t want the tree to go to someone with no sense of where it came from, so it will reside with me for a while and I hope I can bring it to a new level of beauty.CE5FAADF-3CCE-4D4C-870C-58A3123C1D31.jpeg17F3886A-B024-48E3-B667-B00F5BC8EC2C.jpeg680BB2AE-00D9-49D8-8E9D-3E36D238562F.jpegC9C06E2E-1E2B-46DD-BA72-1584B00E573C.jpeg

Very happy to have purchased this Zuisho White Pine from Tat, locally grown by him from seed for over 20+ years. This is one of the two oldest one he has, just a little over $500 USD i believe it is worth every penny. Trunk is close to 4", has good graceful movement and plenty of branches to choose from in the future.

The 20 years, I believe. From seed? Not so much. Airlayer probably. Cutting maybe.
