I’ve been experimenting with various grow light set ups. But one issue I am having is it’s making my living room look like a laboratory and my fiancé does not love that. Has anyone figured out how to set up LED grow lights in a way that is clean / aesthetically pleasing? I have been googling for various lamp stands that can hang an overhead LED grow light while we are at work but that I can move into a corner when we return.

I live in a NYC apartment with limited space so putting the lamp in a different room or the plants outside isn’t an option (I only grow species that do well indoors like Schefflera and elephant bush). The trees are in my only living room window, but need supplemental lighting.

Right now I use Sansi 40W bulbs that are positioned around the trees.

Any LED recommendations also appreciated. There are many LED posts on this forum but some are several years old and the technology is changing rapidly.

Growerslights is the main distributor for HLG and offer smaller units for half the price.Seem like great quality lights with simple design and no fans.

Appreciate the helpful response and photos! The 135 MW light looks to be the right size.

Based on your lamp, do you think it’ll work if I suspend it from the below lamp stand (which I found at Petsmart)?

I won’t be able to hang the lamp from my ceiling, since it’ll be hanging in my living room in front of our one window (NYC apartments don’t have the luxury of space and many windows). The wife won’t love if I drill into our ceiling in that area.

Unfortunately being 36” tall the stand and the light operating safely at 12/18/24” heights from canopy and looking at my old picture of mine I would say the stand needs to be taller.
Light is Definately of quality! I would make a stand out of 2x4 very inexpensively using untreated wood. Can stain it to please your wife!
Here is my old picture and also ppfd report of the hlg 135(which is the mark of a good light maker to provide this info).
