Yeah, I want to see that one too. Larger size deshojo are like the grail.
I’ve been looking for one for about 15 years..... It will still need five to twenty five years to look nice.

I took a jolly email wrong and the nursery is open, very limited hours only during certain months.

Did anyone have a favorite maple from the Asheville show, I personally liked this one from the Winston Salem club. Huge fan of the trunk and the semi cascade the pot is real nice too :

Man, I happened to be in Asheville visiting family and we attended this. I should have thought to ask around, it would have been nice to meet several of you that I talk to/read your posts. Damn shame.

I'll have to look into the June show. Never been to kanapolis but I'll try to see if I can make that. About a six hour drive for me so not quite next door.

The Atlanta Bonsai Show has been rescheduled for September, I believe. It’s going to be held on a Friday and Saturday this year. Sorry, I don’t remember exactly which days.
Correction: the Atlanta show is scheduled for October, not September!

The dates: October 8 and 9, 2021. That is a Friday and a Saturday.

Sorry for any confusion!

Awesome elm! Some interesting and unusual displays, how did the mirror display come off in person? Hard to see it in a photo. The uplighted J. Maple also looked like a cool idea.
The mirror display was ok; everyone has to remember these are volunteer organizations and not individual displays. I feel pieces of mirror or used in a way that didn’t reflect the room would be better. Too distracting, but you did get to see back or trees.

Well... a major theme of the Show has always been “alternative display”.

Alternative as in “not Japanese” style.

It’s not that traditional Japanese styled displays are banned, they just won’t win the Award given to the club for their “Best Display”.

Agreed. Every year I’ve been, about 3-4 displays that are novel have aspects that work for me, or whole thing. Arthur asks for non-traditional displays, which I think is great. The trees are nice, but having a neutral or complimentary back drop of any kind brings the focus on the main display elements.
