Where I live its gotten pretty cold out, basically leaving into winter time. I saw this maple thats been pretty abused anf it appealed to me. How should i give it the best chance for life. I wasnt as careful as i shouldve been and i really dont see any white roots. How should i store and nurture it so it doesnt die?

bury it in the pot in the ground somewhere out of the wind, and cover the top with mulch, or just put it on the ground and cover the whole pot and top of the soil with mulch

Ive got a 5 gallon bucket i planted the tree in, i have limited resources atm. I had to dig up old mulch, my hard natural soil, anf a small amount of potting soil. It does not drain to well but its the best i've got. Will this do the job?

Best bet I would reckon is to use this last bit of window for roots to grow.
Tie it in something and leave it alone.

If you can provide underheat good and consistently all winter go ahead.

But it isn't worth the investment for that tree alone.

So refer to tie it and leave it.

If I am correct over the winter, the tree does not need light. Could I go ahead and put it in my shed until spring, or do I have to leave it outside so it can become dormant?

I've had the maple sitting in my unheated garage. Barely any light comes in, but there is a window. Is this the ideal situation for this recovering maple? Or do I need to put it on my porch? Basically you walk out the door, and your on the porch. There is three steps going down so it is off the ground. Does it need to be outside in the cold with lots of sin, or does it need to be in my garage with next to no light?

THe plant you show here has absolutely no problems with what happened. This amount of roots on a sapling that size is 10 times what it needs to recover. Just put it in the garage, assuming it stays below 40F. Don't think about it except for watering till spring. Just keep it around freezing temps
