Here are the best of what mine have this year, the strange weather sure is changing how fall works!
First is my Korean Hornbeam, the color is softer than usual, but I really like it. The second one here is a snake bark maple that will get a pot change in the spring. This one will wind up being a tall slender elegant thing. Looks like the leaves will reduce well, I let some of it run and some I kept in check so a wide variety of size, but the colors are awesome!

Here's a Japanese maple that used to be a 3 trunk, that is slowly becoming a single. The last trunk to go may need one more season to heal the big wound. The base will look enormous on a single trunk... long way to go. Another J. Maple, shohin, still in progress. New pot next season. Then the Beautyberry, its so delicious this year. The berries hardly look real.

tiny crabapple, another Korean Hornbeam just starting. My other two KH are really behind but look to start soon. Shohin JWP just for variety, and I let my Goji have its head after showing this year, so it's gone nuts! Will cut it hard in the late winter. Fall color is hit or miss down here, so you gotta take whatever, whenever you can...

Dwarf hosta accent... suspect it could be H. 'blue mouse ears'

lol, be careful when you approach that elm with your pruners, looks like it might eat you. The pot with the hosta accent is tasty. Who made it?

Pauline Muth. I picked up a few from her when she was vending at the Silhouette Show last year and absolutely love them.

These are the other two accent pots, planted, that I purchased from Pauline last year. There is just enough fall color in the plantings that I feel like they belong in this thread😉

Here's a few...I didn't get around to taking many tree portraits this year for various reasons. Mix of bonsai and landscape stuff. Some trees (maples in particular) were very vibrant this year.

These are both Chinese quinces (supposedly). Fall color is slightly different for whatever reason. Some might recognize the larger of the two as it used to be owned by the starter of this thread.

Cork bark elm I've been working on for a while. Still a ways to go but it's starting to round into shape. Really tough to get a good photo of this one, the yellows were so vibrant but the trunk is very dark, so I had to use a lighter gray background instead of black. Not thrilled with the way it turned out but you get the idea.

My silverberry had a bunch of flowers this fall. Just imagine the fragrance...really lovely.

Some non-bonsai views, this from my office window. That bright yellow tree on the left is a ginkgo. One day I hope to find one I like for bonsai.

270478

Tree on the left is a tulip poplar and the one in the center is some type of paperbark maple that I got from Lowes a few years ago. Trifoliate maybe?

270479

Stewartia pseudocamellia.

Lovely colors @JudyB ! That goji is going NUTS! You have an amazing specimen...I'm not as impressed with the two on my bench. So much so I'm mailing the one to a friend I met up with in Cincinnati when I was there this past June. I've the two.. one was a straggler...with the one I intentionally purchased. I'm on a teeter totter if it's worth keeping the one...or selling it if I have success mailing this one out. I just came make heads or tails from them. They don't throw back buds or even canes like my pyracantha or bougainvillea. I'm clueless as to develop it more with ramification. 🤷 It is a stubborn species for me.

I have learned a thing or two abut them, they do have their quirks. Thanks.

Trident maple ROR, just beginning to turn. Very small leaves can be had on this one if you try. Princess persimmon naked, and pyracantha. Dwarf Apple.

Your pot choices with your smaller trees are always so intriguing and inspiring. Both the shapes and colours always compliment the trees so well.
