Any angiosperm with pink/pink-ish flowers, like and azalea, chaenomeles, or cherry for examples. Likewise, almost any acer palmatum will likely work. A pinus parviflora and maybe a hemlock too could look great in it. Nice pot!!A pot of Dana Skodova and Lubos Skoda but not very easy to find the right tree .

Yup....a nice super thick trunk, gnarled stump, old bougainvillea upright with the double color of deep red and magenta flowering. Nice combination.Perhaps a bougainville?
