I've only seen the purple variety in my yard, so I'm not sure if this is an aphid or not. But whatever these are they are lterally making a b line for my azalea. One after another crawling into the box and up the trunk.

It looks unnecessary to the fit and finish of your bonsai, probably it's sense of ethics is rudimentary too.

I would spray and marvel at the throes of death.

I'm not that familiar with aphids, especially foreign aphids.

You can squash them, pluck them leaf and all,or spray them.

It doesn't look like an aphid to me, from the picture, but I'm not 100% sure.

If you're also seeing "honeydew" on the leaves (shiny, sticky; excrement with only-partly-digested sugars,) I'd play it safe and roll out the insecticidal soap.

They don't really act like aphids either. They are quick, when I try to kill them they scoot pretty good. I believe aphids pretty much just stay put don't they? These guys are quite active.

From what I've seen, yeah, aphids tend to stay put, sucking away at your plant's life juices!

Almost looks like the nymph (juvenile) stage of something; maybe a member of the order Diptera.

Is there an Extension office in your city/town? They may be able to help, and they have nothing to sell you!
