Have you seen so many flowers?

Seems like every bud that opens on this shishigashira is throwing flowers 🤔

Back story: all the flowers are coming from a branch that I tried air layering last year with no success. Guessing that may be the reason why 🤷🏻‍♂️

Honestly, I don't see the connection between flowering heavily and success or failure to air layer. Since the branch is still alive, it is still possible to get the air layer to take. I have routinely run into situations where it takes 2 years before an air layer will root. You just keep the moss or medium moist and in place over winter, and give it another growing season to root.

Cincturing or girdling was often used to promote flowering and fruiting in fruit trees and currants. A single cut part way or right around the trunk or branch temporarily interrupts the flow of nutrients and causes the plant to switch to reproduction.
That is obviously what has occurred in this case - failed layer has interrupted the flow and switched this branch to flowering.

Yeah that’s what I figured since the rest of the tree flushed out with not one single flower. Thanks for your reply
