This thread is for pictures of yamadori that did not make it into the boat. You "caught" them, but thought they would be better off staying were they were for whatever reason.

This one was "caught" in Greer, Arizona. I think it is a Bristle cone pine wedged into a large mass of lava rock.

Please show us your catch and release yamadori.

Ton of them out there but this one was nice. More Ponderosa pine than you could shake a stick at. Thanks for the id.

@PaulH hey your oak picture just popped up on the random pictures thread and I have a question. What is the success rate of yamadori oak trees? Do you happen to know? Thanks.

Would the change in altitude & temp. Be a consideration?

I have a clump style oak that is doing really well so I know they can take the heat.

Depend entirely on species. I've had nearly 100% success with live oaks and zero success with deciduous species.

100% thats great! Would the picture above be considered a live oak? Could you give me any tips for collecting if it is? @PaulH

Ponderosa pine....double trunk I believe. Found at Roger's lake south west of Flagstaff. Went to Pocket Hole. I 17 was down to one lane for Bumble Bee fire so that was miserable, however, watching two helicopters and a couple of fixed wing battle the blaze made the delay bearable. They got it put out but AZ is a tinder box right now.

A ton of catch and release yamadori found today. Too many to picture. In Christopher Creek. North East of Payson. See Canyon area. Beautiful up here right now. Do want to include this picture. We combine yamadori exploration and Geocaching when we can. Under this big grandaddy of an alligator juniper is a ammo box size geocache. One of two we found on this adventure. If you have not tried Geocaching you should! Great outdoor activity. Check it out if you can.
